Am I reading the right book?



I'm only half-way through, but I want to wack Bella on the noggin. She is really making me feel...unhappy, in the way she's treating Jacob and the way she's floating through the chapters like a wet blanket.

Yes, okay, I understand why she's acting this way, and that she's aware of the way she's treating Jake - but that doesn't make me go "OH, OKAY, COOL" anymore than it did before. The crazed way she starts pushing herself off cliffs and endangering herself makes sense, in a way, but why doesn't anyone else around her (like Charlie or Jake) make the connection and stop her being so suicidal? It all seems a little drawn out and superfluous - and I would have liked to think Bella had the sensibility (even in face of losing her One True Love) not to act so damn reckless.

I'm feeling, three-hundred-odd pages in, like I am reading the wrong book, and that's not just because Bella has turned very sour, but another huge stinking reason:

I WANT MY FUCKING CULLENS, PEOPLE.

Carlisle, come back to me! I'm also wishing Esme was more rounded, instead of some secondary Mumsy character that seems to flit in and out while Carlisle runs the show.

Like I said, I'm only like, half way done; so no doubt my opinions will change. Vampires, come back!

Ahahaha. Actually, i glimpsed that for a sec on my friends list and went, "...... colin firth?" and then I realized it wasn't. Heh. Colin Firth looks too much like a puppy to be Carlisle, anyways.

Yeeeah, I didn't like New Moon, and I thought the ending was just absolutely ridiculous, BUT, I have a feeling that Eclipse is going to really good, and also involve the Cullens much more heavily. That said, I feel like New Moon is one really big, long, drawn-out exposition for Eclipse. How annoying.

New Moon made me hate Bella. Blah. I... also don't understand why people don't stop her from being so weirdly suicidal. Plus I just am not getting this whole "true love" thing... the way she writes these books just makes it sound like you might as well be dead if you're not with your "TRUE LOVE."

Oh, and... I feel like the author is just as much an Edward fangirl as those crazy kids all over LJ - she was so busy making him perfect that she forgot to give personalities to the other vampires except maybe Alice. :/

Yeah, my issues with the second book all go back to how Bella behaves...but I'll wait to go into it more until you finish.

And oooh...pretty. I can work with that on the screen and in my imagination.
