So I stayed up last night, way past normal bedtime, because I was taken by the overpowering urge to vid Capital Scandal. You know how it is, vidders - perfect song, perfect clips - and you just have to stay up and finish it, before releasing it to the world.

So, my flisty - my first Capital Scandal vid.

I hope you enjoy it, and appreciate the hard work I put into it.

OT: I randomly made this icon, and I'm thinking - is there an AU forming in my head, in my subconscious? And it's powerful enough to fall out into Photoshop? Is it a reverse AU, where Wan's a bookish nerd and Yeo-Kyung's a playa? ponders

THIS IS AMAZING

AND REALLY CAPTURES THE SEMIOTIC RICHNESS OF THE SERIES. I THINK THE MUSIC NEATLY SIGNIFIES THE CHARACTERS' STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE FROM JAPANESE IMPERIALISM AND THEIR OWN EMOTIONAL TRAUMA.

Thank you, so much. It means everything to me, your comments. <3

I was really trying to find the best way to sum up their inner struggles - to highlight those problems that were uniquely their own, and I hope I achieved that. Even if just a little. If the song choice was slightly anachronistic, I apologise - but I think it's so fitting when you pair it with the images.

I think the anachronistic nature of the song creates a sense of alienation in the viewer, which parallels the feelings of the characters. And, of course, being an instrumental, you've avoided the problem of being overly literal, which I think would have been a bit too much for a vid of this kind.

I HAVE TEARS. Your vidding is masterful.

I feel like you've captured the disconnect between their lives and the parts they play so perfectly. You even bridged the fourth wall, in a way - I mean, this vid, I feel like it's relevant to my own life. It's just - amazing.

Masterful?! Oh, you flatter me! I just wanted to use the medium as a tool to explore and acknowledge an event in time we could never really put into context today, whilst also straddling the inherent problems present in today's society.

I just wanted it to make you think, y'know?

You've definitely succeeded. This is the kind of vid that sticks in one's memory, you know? I'll probably bring it up in my next philosophy class. It just - I don't even know. I hardly have words.

I want to watch it again, with a glass of wine. I feel like just a couple of viewings isn't getting the full message. There are so many layers I need to unpack.

Astounding. Your subtle yet powerful use of the source text demonstrates a deep and resonant understanding of some of the underlying issues at stake.

Why thank you, kind sir. Vidding is an under used medium, I feel - I wanted to take what was really being said and package it in a though-provoking and easy to digest format. For the masses, and all that.

This vid moved me to tears. I have never seen such astounding synchronicity between vision and music.

So beautiful.

The purity of your vision is perfectly complemented by the sublime choice of musical accompainment, reflecting the inner turmoil of the Chosun resistance against the imperial Japanese occupation. Truly an absolutely shining example of the brilliant vidding medium.

Greatest current tragedy of my life: I cannot watch this vid until I am home from work SO MANY HOURS FROM NOW. ;______;

(omg genderswapped capital scandal. Cha Song Joo the stoic police officer with an angsty past! LEE SU HYUN THE SCHEMING REVOLUTIONARY COURTESAN. Everyone wants a piece of that.)

(delayed reaction, again, from too much work and TOO LITTLE OF THIS)

GENDERSWAPPED CAPITAL SCANDAL. This is something we must collaborate on, immediately. If only for the fact I have Bodyguard, which has Bodyguard!Song Joo in it. [/excuses]

Your superior vidding skills leave me breathless, I must say.
