My darling [personal profile] firthgal has had a hard couple of days, so I thought I'd make a little fanmix to cheer her up. Except most of the music is wistful and bittersweet and kind of depressing - but if that's not our favourite North Koreans in a nutshell, I don't know what is.

Man I love making fanmixes. I hope you feel better, [personal profile] firthgal! <3333

(This one also goes out to my watcher-in-crime, [profile] suburbannoir, who probably will kick me for using The National.)

And everyone else? Just enjoy the two BAMFiest BAMFs who ever BAMFed:

DAMN STRAIGHT.

i just finished watching the iris series and happened to come across this and i was wondering if you'd be so kind as to re-upload it somewhere? i'd appreciate it SO much and more than you know. i hope you don't mind me asking!

From: [identity profile] plumtastic.livejournal.com

Okay, so this is for IRIS? Because they've got that on Hulu, and I'm considering it, esp. since they don't seem to be fast on their feet giving me new eps of Secret Garden. So, yes, totally worth it?

From: [identity profile] firthgal.livejournal.com

Sorry for butting in but... YES, TOTALLY WORTH IT. IRIS is by far the greatest K-drama that I have ever seen. It was a little slow at first, but once it gets into the story it is impossible to stop watching. I am amazed at how deeply I fell in love with all of the characters, especially the North Koreans. ♥

WHAT

WHAT

FIRST [livejournal.com profile] firthgal NOW I FIND OUT YOU'RE INTO KDRAMAS?!

This is all too much happiness for me to handle. Tell me what you've watched! Ever! (And yes, it's for IRIS. If you can handle 394839389 flashbacks, you'll love it.)

From: [identity profile] plumtastic.livejournal.com

HEE!

I've only watched the first 12 eps of Secret Garden. The first 10 are on Hulu, which I found at the start of the year, but they haven't put up the rest...and then last night I found the mothergrail that is dramafever.com.

Watched the first ep of IRIS last night. So pretty! I will definitely be watching more. :)

I am loving it! The action scenes are fantastic, and while I'm itching to see the North Koreans you guys seem to love, I can't wait to see how the story gets to that point in the opening of the first ep.

So far only really like Kim Hyun Joon (complex, eh? just saw the part where he remembers his parents murder) and the autopsy guy. Not so much on Choi Seung Hee's blank look.

Now you need to see some Secret Garden. :)

From: [identity profile] piecesofalice.livejournal.com

WHERE ARE YOU UP TO NOW WHY ARE MY LJ COMMENTS GOING INTO MY SPAM?!

Are you up to the NKs yet? And Seung Hee is called Boring in my house, for good reason. She gets infinitely more interesting when she holds a big ass gun. And Hyun Joon - oh those teeth. Lee Byung Hun does a really good job, I think.

I started Secret Garden! It's so cute, I'm loving it. I AM SO HAPPY YOU'RE WATCHING THIS CRAP NOW <333

From: [identity profile] plumtastic.livejournal.com

HEE!

I'm up to episode...9 (think). We've learned the first stuff about IRIS, HJ and SH are being awesome together and Boring is just...there. And has tried to commit suicide, or was really lame and just forgot to eat?

I LOVE IT LIKE BURNING. And omg, Seon Hwa is starting to rival Miss Parker (which, hello, I have an idea for a VDay fic for) in terms of love and awesomeness.

I'm tickled to hear about Secret Garden. It's a little clunky (and the subtitles are kinda weird) but really charming at the same time. I'm about ep 14 or so there, and I kinda don't want to watch more because then it'll be OVER. Do not want.

Any more recs? School eats up my time, but I can totally work with this pre-packaged kdrama stuff.

Also, MISS YOU.

Don't you love how it takes them almost half the show to get to what the hell IRIS is? And even then you're like, "...what?" Bless. Athena's the same, fair warning. Except nothing happens. For like, four episodes. And poor Boring. So damn boring. Has Sa-woo started wearing turtlenecks and slicking his hair down? That's a sign of things to come.

Sun Hwa, called Fierce in our house, is my queen. And her and Hyun Joon nnnnngggfffffffff. The time they're at Akita is actually meant to have a place card of Three months later, which is on the ~official~ DVDs (shutup I didn't spend exorbitant amounts of money on a DVD just for special features with no subs). So you know they had a lot of sex. It's just canon fact.

Funnily enough, [livejournal.com profile] bantha_fodder put the idea for Sun Hwa-Miss Parker adventures into my head. Perhaps I should write it just for the three of us? (YOU KNOW PRETENDER VALENTINE FIC IS A MUST EVERY YEAR. Like watching "Gigolo Jarod")

Are you aheming Secret Garden et al, or streaming them? The sub teams are excellent, and although you have to wait a little longer, the quality is better. Although, streaming sites aren't available for Australia, so maybe my necessity has bred my inability to watch bad subs. Sub snob?

OKAY RECS (I was thinking of doing a post? Is that the most boring thing ever?)

City Hall (has a lot of problems but Cha Seung-won and Kim Sun-ah's chemistry is off the charts, also the first drama I ever watched)
Oh! My Lady (cute older lady/younger man drama about a star who discovers he has an illegitimate daughter and other convoluted things)
Last Scandal (has Sa-woo from IRIS in it - so good. Amazingly good. One of my favourites, easy)
Couple of Fantasy/Fantasy Couple (based on the Kurt and Goldie movie Overboard from the 80s - YES REALLY)

Oh god, more. But they're the ones I've loved the most. I have a Tumblr for what I'm watching, so I'll have to go look at that and come back to you with more. LUCKY YOU

I can't even tell you how happy I am that you're watching this. It ate like, a year of my life and I avoided LJ so not to bore you all <3333

From: [identity profile] firthgal.livejournal.com

EEEEEEEEEE, THANK YOU! THAT COVER ART, GOOD GOD, THEY ARE SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL. I am downloading the music right at this moment so that I can listen to it, but I can say right now that the lyrics you've chosen for them are perfection, especially "We look into the eyes unknown/Yet we have known all along." That is them in a nutshell. I LOVE THEM. You wouldn't happen to have a batch of icons of them that you are willing to share, would you? Because I've always failed at making icons of them.

From: [identity profile] firthgal.livejournal.com

Okay, I've now listened to it and I freaking love it. Your fanmixes never fail to capture the exact mood of a pairing/character. My favorite was Henglias, and Gorecki really captures the atmosphere of the show and the pairing itself, and I like the last song you chose since the rest of the mix was pretty low-key and then this one got a little loud and sort of hopeful and then THERE WAS CHEERING. Hee, I loved it!

From: [identity profile] piecesofalice.livejournal.com

I'm glad you like it. <3

Most of the tracks are from an epic IRIS playlist I have - to post, or not to post? It'd be a helluva lot of Sun Hwa/Hyun Joon, so if you can handle that... ;)

From: [identity profile] piecesofalice.livejournal.com

I riffed the cover art from one of my Tumblr graphics, but I figured you wouldn't mind. PLUS: SO PRETTY.

I can make some icons, I really only have the two (three including the one of Sun Hwa I have as well). Requests?

Well, hell, I just now see that you've made a fanmix for your newest beloved OTP.

It looks lovely! I really do need to make time for IRIS. I miss getting excited over fannish stuffs with you.
