Borne of boredom, please to be having some of my favourite film clips.

Hawksley Workman - We Will Still Need a Song
Lack of embedding aside, Hawksley's known for his "arty" filmclips with a lot of slo-then-fast-then-slo-then-fast-mo. He gets up-and-comers to direct them, and as a result, we get some pretty gorgeous clips from him. "We Will..." is my favourite, mainly because Hawksley acts and steals sandwiches. YEAH
Rammstein - Ich Will
Content Warning, natch
Don't be put off by their inherently scary tunes and gruff German antics - Rammstein are responsible for, in my opinion, some of the most beautifully shot and aesthetically pleasing filmclips of the past decade or so. "Ich Will" is easily my favourite because it plays, looks and ends just like a malevolent blockbuster - it's a violent, nasty commentary on the media without an inch of triteness or highhandedness. It still gives me goosebumps - the imagery can be so slight (like Richard slow-dancing with the clerk and Till's 'press conference') but boy oh boy, it's effective.

Rammstein - Sonne (talk about fractured fairytales)
Rammstein - Ohne Dich (WAAHHHH DEAD TIL)
Die Ärzte - Unrockbar
Having to choose an Ärzte clip as my favourite would be like choosing between my children. But here, have "Unrockbar" - a cheery, sly take on what it means to be a rock star and on being a rock fan. Mix in some really tight pants, a freakin' awesome rock break and some acting from Sir Bela of B, and you are on to a winner, baby.

Die Ärzte - Wie es geht (I still jizz in my pants. TMI, yeah, but come on.)
Farin Urlaub - Sumisu

Beastie Boys - Body Movin' (Fatboy Slim Remix)
I have fond memories as a youngin' taping this from Video Hits on a Saturday morning and being transfixed by the hilariously camp antics of the Boys in this clip. Later, of course, I found out it's a rip on French "Bond", Diabolik - still doesn't make the licking of the spoon scene at the end any less awesome.
Shea Seger - Last Time
No embedding and not a very good copy - but this filmclip stuck in my psyche for such a long time (and the song, too). It's shot beautifully, with a fantastic reveal; the actors along Shea and the shark are the proper amounts shocked and campy and reigned in - just amazing. I really wish the quality was better, because this is easily one of my favourites.
Ima Robot - Lovers in Captivity
It's almost beautiful in it's simplicity - you have lead singer Alex and Brody Corbet in a bed and in little cut-aways to them groovin' - but you still get the yearning, the lingering feelings from the night before and that cold, cold feeling of an empty bed. Ugh. Love it.
Fettes Brot - Schwule Mädchen
Again, choosing a Brot clip is too freakin' hard. "Schwule Mädchen"'s one of those songs that doesn't need a film clip because it's so visual on it's own - but with this, a dirty, bloodied mosh pit of a film clip they have encompassed everything that's good and holy about this heckler's anthem, with a grimey colour scheme to suit. 100% kinetic energy. And Doktor Renz is hot.

Fettes Brot - Da Draussen (Trainspotting in the 21st century {even though this was last century})
Scissor Sisters - Laura
No embedding, alas. If I were stranded on a desert island with only one clip, I reckon it would be this one. The bubblepop electric colour scheme, Jake's dancing, Ana's ohmigod she's freakin' gorgeousness, the perfect editing - it's like the world's shortest telenovela - now in colour!
NSYNC - Pop
MAN I'M TIRED OF SINGIN'
Oh, come on - it's like pop music personified. Like someone opened a tweenager's head and spewed it out onto a TV screen. I honestly couldn't tell you how many times I have watched this - even as I re-watched tonight, I still knew all the dance moves and hand waggly-whatsits. Lame. But awesome. (And I apologise for Miss Thang's "DON'T STEAL MY WORD" at the end.)
The Monkees - Star Collector
The psychedelia! It burns! It burns with kick-ass-ness! Did you know The Monkees were one of the first bands to adopt the non-performance based music video? There you go. And they did it all in white, sans instruments and with a groovy light screen you could only dream about.
Kylie Minogue - Did It Again
My youngin' self found herself watching this clip and understanding for the first time why Kylie Minogue is considered one of our national treasures. The clip is naughty, clipped, sly, surprising and - most importantly - colourful as all bug fuck. I still think each and every one of these Kylies live inside me, too.
Franz Ferdy - Ulysses
"Ulysses" is one of those songs I heard and went "Yeah, okay, that's an alright one, Ferdy-pants." Then I saw the clip and wanted to molest every single one of those boys. It's a case of the video-makes-the-song here - like "Lovers in Captivity", you get a real idea of the night before because you're there, a frenetic and dangerous Wurlitzer of an adventure, with jump-cuts that could take a canyon whole and strut, baby, strutting you could write home to mum about (but you wouldn't because she'd know you're not a nice girl after all). And laundromat action. Yeeeeahhh.
For other sexy Ferdy times, please to be viewing "Do You Want To", which I enjoy for it's sexy-times take on 1960s art culture and Alex's staring into the camera.

Miranda Cosgrove & Drakius Bellimus - Leave It All To Me
Yes, this is the iCarly theme. I dare you not to dance. I DARE YOU.And I think I want to do Drake Bell and Jerry Trainor. At the same time. With some sort of video camera so I can post it creepily for you all to see. WHAT I SAID NOTHING
There's probably more, but they're the ones on the top of my noggin. I also spared you all my amazing 80s music choices (Warrant and "Cherry Pie", anyone?) and the majority of my pop loves. Lucky.

My first copy got all scratched up and I had a hell of time tracking a used one down. The last time I googled her was a couple of years a go, so I just did it again and found out she recorded a song for some indie movie last year. Now, I'm going to try to track it down.

Rammstein? Fuck me. That is incredible. I was watching Lilya 4 Ever the other eek and I scremed 'til I cried and cried 'til I screamed and their song had a lot to do with it.
