Fan Mix - Goren + Eames

I've been sitting on this for a while - and now, I post it.

Celebrating the friendship/romance/partnership (whatever your poison) of Detectives Robert Goren and Alex Eames. It's a little wangsty, a little zany, a little sly, a little all over the place and a lot wistful; but for such a varied and interesting partnership, would you expect anything less?

Don't expect great insights, however. I just ain't that bird. To me, these songs just sound and feel like them - and I hope you enjoy them like I have. Download link after song information.

LITTLE TRAGEDIES / THE GOREN+EAMES MIX

You bought a gun
'Cause you thought I wouldn't listen

{01}
HAWKSLEY WORKMAN / Complicated Man

The city is peaceful
Without you and I

In my honest opinion? This is the Robert Goren song. Sums up everything.

{02}
THE DELGADOS / If This is a Plan

You look older
You look harder and tired and colder
Is this what ten years with a dickhead can bring

Goren and his constant struggle with being a burden on Eames, their partnership and her life.

{03}
THE POLYPHONIC SPREE / Suitcase Calling

When the light comes today I'll show my face
It's the seasons that keep me hanging on

The struggle to show each other who they are. A theme for Season Six, as we move into more "personal" territories.

{04}
THE WHO / A Real Good Looking Boy

And you say, 'You're beautiful as you are'
And I've managed somehow to survive

Goren + His Mum + Eames = this song.

{05}
AIMEE MANN / One Is The Lonliest Number

Two can be as bad as one
It’s the loneliest number
Since the number one

Well, they're not exactly the happiest pairing on the box, are they? (Aimee Mann over Johnny Farnham/Three Dog Night et al for I believe this version is more them.)

{06}
BOB DYLAN & JOHNNY CASH / The Girl From The North Country

Many times I've often prayed
In the darkness of my night
In the brightness of my day

This was actually the inspiration for my fic, "Double Distilled". There is something just..amazingly haunting and empty about this song, but so hopeful at the same time. And there's always time for a fic plug, no?

{07}
BEN LEE / Ache For You

There's no rhyme and there's no reason
You're the secret in the back of my skull

One without the other? Never. A perfect urban lullaby.

{08}
DAVID BOWIE & QUEEN / Under Pressure

Keep coming up with love
But it's so slashed and torn

Their job has a lot of pressure, you know.

{09}
THE TRIANGLES / Your Heart

Do you think there will be something more?
Well it isn't that simple

Honest and simple, an ode to their oh-so-different home lives and the people they've become and who they strive to be. And there's a recorder in it!

{10}
THE DRESDEN DOLLS / Sing

There is thing keeping everyone's lungs and lips locked
It is called fear and it's seeing a great renaissance

Their world - one of crime, violence, murder, blood - and how one small thing can have such an impact it's scary.

{11}
HAWKSLEY WORKMAN / Little Tragedies

To your mouthful of nails
Shining lke the afternoon

You may think on first listen that this song is so inappropriate, it's not funny. But! Hyperactive, intelligent, busy, melodic, layered, brilliant - that's Goren and Eames, and that's this song.

Okay, that ended up being rather Goren-centric, didn't it. Huh.

It has so many uses. Especially for emo kids!
