There's texture under her fingers and it feels like silk - maybe it's not, maybe his wife bought it for him in a fit of making him into something he probably couldn't be, and she didn't check the label and it's satin and God it feels good.
Ex-wife. And he says it against her mouth and she's sort of confused, because yesterday, ten minutes ago, they were partners and she was supposed-to, not-really be with Shawn. And ten years ago he was probably holding her just like this, and blonde hair gets stuck in between his fingers as she arches towards him and -
This is where we're at now, she mutters, and she steels herself for him to pull away and act in that infuriating way she always knew.
But he didn't and he doesn't, and he isn't and they are and it's wonderful.
