Fic: 30x30 {13} 'Torn In The Fire", Joanie Stubbs
Looking at my icons this evening, I realised I wanted to write some Joanie. I wish she just didn't end up making me write her so damn sad.
THIRTEEN
"Torn In The Fire"
Deadwood (Joanie Stubbs)
13. Torn In The Fire
Deadwood-verse, 14th September 2009
---
She fears it will all soon be over, and she'll be left again with nothing but mud.
The mud, there since the beginning, for the tale of her life so far, sticking to her skin and hair and making no means to move even after the bath water has turned cold.
It's there, like the stench of whore, and the hard slaps from her father that she happily exchanged for a life of sin; for the wages of war that eventually fell through her hands, as she was so turned towards the idea of freedom, she didn't see the bastards skimming her from behind.
It's too hard to be happy with someone else as unhappy as you, she knows.
And soon, it will be over, like a tale read in the candlelight with the happy ending long since torn out and placed in the fire.
---
Fin.
---
And then she and Silas Adams ran away and had 3294839 kids and she was happy. The end.
Oh, Joanie.
