Seriously, I love that the writers were like, "Okay, uh, nobody likes Mary much, but they all love Marshall. QUICK! Have her almost-kiss Marshall every other episode!"

I love him so much. During all his scenes I'm sort of excited for him that he gets a break like this in a show. LIKE HE IS MY NEPHEW OR SOMETHING. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH ME.
